Plot outline: This version of Dracula is closely based on Bram Stoker's classic novel of the same name. A young lawyer (Jonathan Harker) is assigned to a gloomy village in the mists of eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker's betrothed, Mina Murray. In Britain, Dracula begins a reign of seduction and terror, draining the life from Mina's closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy's friends gather together to try to drive Dracula away. Comment: It's taken me quite a long while to realise this, but Francis Ford Coppola's dracula,is,in essence anyway, quite a turkey. It's probably the longest version, yet, like all modern day horror versions,is told in such a superfluous and contrived manner that watching after a while can actually become quite an irritable experience. Keanu Reeves,is,no matter what anyone may say,a pretty good actor but in this,he's so coyly desperate to please we wind up wanting to go up to old dracky and give him a high five for banging him up in that old rot(although this might have some unhealthy results)
