Length: 1h 55m 0s
Director: Terence Young
Tagline: Meet James Bond, secret agent 007. His new incredible women... His new incredible enemies... His new incredible adventures...
Plot outline: James Bond, 007, is sent on a mission to Istanbul to try and acquire a Russian cypher machine known as Lektor from a defecting Russian agent. However, the Russians have no knowledge of this as it is a S.P.E.C.T.R.E. ploy to lure James Bond into a trap - a fitting tribute to their now- dead agent Dr. No. Summary written by Graeme Roy {} Evil crime cartel SPECTRE seeks revenge for the death of its operative Dr No and sets a trap to lure British agent James Bond to his death. The bait is a Soviet encryption machine called a Lektor, which the British Secret Service are desperate to get hold of. Summary written by Dave Jenkins {}
Comment: By no means a great movie, but a top-notch BOND movie. Connery isn't yet as entertaining as he later became (especially in "Thunderball"), but he is certainly more confident and likable than he was in "'Dr.No". This is probably the only GENUINE spy movie in the series, and it contains (in my opinion) the best-sustained sequence of all the Bonds (the Connery-Shaw fight and the 15 minutes leading to it). Unfortunately, the two following climaxes (especially the boat chase) can't approach the same level of quality. It's still above-average.
